The NMRN commissioned me to create a phased Interpretation Strategy for two of its venues; the Royal Navy Submarine Museum and Explosion, Gosport. Working collaboratively with their various teams including Public Programming, Collections and Operations, this strategy used the NMRN’s overarching Interpretation Strategy, Master Narrative and diverse collection to deliver the story of the Royal Navy Submarine Service to audiences in an engaging way.
Considering the sites’ unique audiences and stories, as well as their future masterplanning and funded developments, the plans considered narrative and tone of voice, interpretation, design, and visitor journey.
Both plans delivered a phased framework – temporary displays or activities, pilot projects, small pieces of standalone interpretation and large-scale redevelopments, with activity plans, priority phasing and outline evaluation methods detailed.
